GIRLS DAY OUT

Finally,

a day out with the girls.

Michaels opened a new store locally so

it was the perfect excuse for 

a shopping trip and lunch.

Nice to get out of the house and spend a bit

of time with friends I love.

This little get well card was finally delivered

so now I can post it.

It's Hurtin' Burtin' by Inky Antics 

and was coloured with W/C pencils.

And not to brag but I just have to share

a photo of our Abigail.

She is our love muffin.

HAPPY FIRST BIRTHDAY BUGSY-BUTT

It's been an entire year since my little guy

was born and being a crazy dog-mom,

I wanted to celebrate his special day.

Using a template I found online for a birthday

hat, I made a little hat for him.

I covered the cardstock with fabric after

I formed the hat and then made

a matching bandanna.  

The pom pom and trim were made from

some red wool that I had laying around.

He is such a good sport about sitting

still when I dress him up.

He and Abbey both got a new chew bone to celebrate his birthday.
(I think Abbey was secretly laughing at Bugsy that he
had to endure the embarrassment of the hat and she
got a new bone for doing nothing).

Happy Birthday Little Dude.
I hope we have many, many more to celebrate together.

BUGSY's NEW BOATING ATTIRE

Bugsy is almost a year old now and is pretty

much full grown.  So his little ball caps that I made for him

last Summer, no longer fit him.

I am a stickler for protecting his eyes from the sun

just as I do my own, especially when we are on our boat.

I knew that if I waited until the Spring, I probably would not

get new caps made for him in time

for boating season.

Whenever I see fabric that I like, I buy a chunk and

tuck it away for 'something'.  In this case, the something

was new caps and matching bandannas for

my little man.

He has also outgrown his life vest so that will be the next

thing on his wardrobe shopping list.

WELCOMING THE NEW YEAR WITH OPEN ARMS

Saying farewell to 2013 was much anticipated 

and much welcomed.

Last year brought many, many lows

but it's behind me now and

time to move forward.

Here are a few of my Christmas creations that did

not get posted.

This was my card that I made for my girlfriends.

Love me a poinsettia!

This little stamp has become one of my favourites for Christmas.

Although I chose unconventional Christmas colours,

I really love how these cards turned out.

And last but certainly not least,

here are a couple of recent BUGSY photos ...

Does this schnauzer like the snow? Ah, that would be a YES!!!

And he has finally decided to use his little bed that I

built for him ...

... as a means of jumping up on the filing cabinet

to get a better view of the street!

TRIBUTE MINI BOOK TO CEE JAY

While I always try to have good intentions,

there are times when those good intentions seem to take forever.

This little mini book is one of those times.

CeeJay was an amazing little dog who shared his life

with my friend Barb.  He was also the inspiration

for my getting Gadget and Doodle.  He lived a long 

and happy life with Barb and finally left this world when 

he was 16 years old.  That was almost 5 years ago.

This book has been something I have wanted and intended 

to create for Barb, for a very long time but it

always seemed to get put on the back burner.

Well, not this time.  I've been working on it for 

a few weeks now and I finally finished it.  Barb will

be receiving it as a Christmas gift this year.

 

 

 

 

Barb and I share in our passion and love of animals 

especially our puppies.  I know she will love this little book
as it will serve as a loving tribute to her special little man.

THE BUGSY BED

My little dude needed a bed of his own

(or so I thought), so I decided to

try my hand at making one for him.

Pinterest has become another addiction of mine and

I have been seeing these dog beds made by

recycling old end tables.

So, I searched for quite a while at yard sales

and finally found one that fit the bill.

Here it is in it's original form.

I flipped it over; cut the shelf out;

cut two of the legs down; added 3 pieces

of 1"x4" and finally, added 4 fence

post caps to the bottom as feet.

The finials are end caps for

curtain rods.  I also added two 1" x 2" 

pieces to the back as a headboard.

Next, I spray painted everything black.

Then I made a quick pillow case for the

pillow and placed it in the bottom of

the bed as a mattress.

And to make it a Bugsy Original, 

I painted a wooden crown to match the

pillow cover.  Small wood alphas were attached

to spell BUGSY and some rhinestones were

added for effect.

Now, there is only one issue ...

... Bugsy wants NO PART of sleeping in it !!!

He sat long enough for me to snap this

photo but that's as much as he has used it.

REMEMBERING DITTO

With Lily's passing 

and the sad times adjusting to life

without her, we had to say

good bye to our dear little Ditto too.

In many ways, Ditto was the lucky one of our fur babies

as she lived to be 15 years old.  We adopted her when she was 

two years old and we enjoyed life with her for 13 more years.

She was always a loner ... feisty and independent ...

but we loved her just the same.

With age, came subsequent health issues

and it was time to let her go.

We miss you Ditto

and we hope that you are keeping Lily, Gadget and Doodle

good company. 

You were a special member of our family

and we will always remember

you with love in our hearts.

MY HEART IS HAPPY AGAIN

... and this is the reason ...

Allow me to introduce

BUGSY MALONE

(aka BUGS).

Bugsy is 6 months old and he has managed in a very short time, 

to fill the void in my heart that was left when Lily departed.
I still miss Lily terribly but now I am able to look at her photos,
cherish the memories we had together
and remember her with love, not sadness.

Make no mistake by his innocent little face, Bugsy is a little

four-legged "toot"!  I've never had a puppy this young

so it has been and continues to be quite a challenge for me.

But it is soooo worth every minute of it.

And best of all,

Bugsy and Abbey are BFF's.

She has been so patient with him and wherever one goes, so does the other.

She was showing signs of missing Lily and I think that

Bugsy is helping her too.

Our home is alive again and not an hour goes by

when I am not in stitches laughing at the

crazy antics of our Bugsy Butt.

PUPPY LOVE

My sweet little LILY is never far from me, no matter where I am 

or where I go.

Here she is, enjoying a snooze in her canopy bed

while I am crafting.

Crafting above ground has certainly worked well for me

as I find myself in my craft room

whenever I have some ME time.

These are a couple of recent creations.

My copics are going to dry up if I don't use them more

so I decided to ink up this stamp (which incidentally I have had

for at least 2 years!) and play with my copics.

I am still learning but the more I play with them, the

more pleased I am with the results.

 Spellbinders and Pink ... what a combo!

When I saw this image on Pinterest, I knew that it would

be perfect for a dog sympathy card.  

Unfortunately, I have needed quite a few of these in the past few months.

When my clients have to say goodbye to their fur children,

it's difficult for me too since some of these puppies have

been coming to me all their lives for grooming

and I have become very attached to them.

 My hopes are that a personally crafted card will let the puppies' humans

know how much I care and that I am thinking of them

during these difficult times.

THE REAL "ET" ????

Not everyone will be old enough to remember 

"ET - The Extra Terrestrial"

but for those who are,

I think that he may have reappeared in my grooming spa

in the form of a ShihTzu named "Cassanova".

After his bath, while he was wrapped in a towel, I did a 

double take when I looked at him and all I could

see was ET.

Anyway, this little guy is an absolute little dude and he loves 

to be pampered.  And now, he's ready

to go home and probably sleep for the

rest of the afternoon.

"STEP AWAY FROM THE FOOD BAG!"

... and no one gets hurt!

Our old girl Ditto, who is 14 now and has developed some form of dementia (or so

we thought), used to always get excited when a new food bag was opened and 

the contents were poured into the dog bin.  She would gradually work her way 

inside the bag to get the few kibbles that I had stretegically left 

for her in the bag.  

You would never have known yesterday that there was anything failing

in her mind, when she practically dove into the food bag to see if

there was anything worthwhile left inside (and of course, there was).

And make no mistake about it ... Lily and Abbey were NOT welcome

to share the bag's contents!

CHRISTMAS PUPPIES

It was Abbey's first Christmas with us and poor girl, she had no

idea what was in store for her.

Santa left Lily and Abbey, smoked bones for Christmas.

But as with many rewards, comes a task.  And so, Abbey was initiated into

our Christmas traditions.

Isn't she sweet?  Well, she didn't think so and was rather embarrassed.

And of course, Lily doesn't care what you do with her, as long as

she gets her treats for doing it!

Here she is in her Christmas dress.

Christmas would not be the same, if not for our fur children.

And when they allow us to indulge ourselves with photos like these, 

well, it just makes Christmas Day that much sweeter.
