LUMINARY

Due to some sketchy weather conditions, I missed our recent 

Workshop Friday which CATHY hosted.

So as not to be left out, Cathy came over the other day and

brought with her, my kit for the project 

and here it is.

This is the velum opening where the light shines thru.

And this is the light shining thru.

We used alcohol inks on the background.

This was such a beautiful project and it's now displayed on our

fireplace mantel, where I enjoy it every evening.

WORKSHOP WONDERS

Better late than never ... here are the projects

that we created in our last two Workshops.

Carolyn hosted with these two cards.  

She is the Queen of Intricacy as you can see in these cards.

Kristy hosted our Christmas Workshop, where we

created these beautiful ornaments.

BRAYERING 101

It was Cathy's Workshop Friday this past week and she

decided to have us work with our brayers (come to find out that

I need a new one, hence the results of my cards leave something

to be desired).  Anyway, we had fun, as usual and certainly

gained some knowledge about brayering ... thanks Cathy.

Using the new SU fabric, Cathy created a little tissue holder for

each of us ... isn't it cute??!!!

And finally, I found this adorable little Easter treat pouch

WORKSHOP FRIDAY FEB 10/2012

Carolyn managed to WOW us again with another creative project

for her turn at hosting our Workshop Friday.

A desk calendar was on the agenda and it can be turned into a scrapbook

once the year ends.

Each individual month is printed on an acetate overlay and the

corresponding month is done with various DP's, under the acetate.

My photography leaves a lot to be desired so these photos 

definitely do not do justice to the project.

WORKSHOP FRIDAY

We resumed our Workshop Friday's last night and Kristy was the

hostess this week.  She broke out all of her new SU products and we worked 

for a few hours on four different projects.

Kristy wanted to make sure that I gave credit to the creators where

her inspiration came from, so here they are:

It was nice to get back together again and even nicer to have friends

who share a common passion.  A big thanks to Kristy for these wonderful

WORKSHOP FRIDAY

Well, this project took two Friday's to complete and after a lot of tedious work, the finished project was sooo worth it. 

It was Cathy's turn to host and she designed this rosette wreath for us to make.

Thankfully, Cathy cut and scored every rosette for us ... we just had to 

fold and assemble them.  Now I say "just ", like it was nothing but

in actual fact, it was a lot of work.

After a few hot glue burns, some tired eyes and some frustrated hands, the

project was completed and now hangs proudly in my craft room.

WORKSHOP FRIDAY

Last night was my turn to host our workshop and I decided on Christmas cards.

The first one was relatively simple with the image stamped in blue ink and then 

glitterfied with Glitter Ritz Warm Highlight.

The second card began as a relatively simple one too but ended up as anything but.

I was anxious to use my new SU Bigz Holiday Stocking Die, so that was 

the inspiration for the card.  The stocking was cut out and then embossed using a Cuttlebug snowflake folder and the top, heel and toe were cut from glitter c/s.  

I used my Grand Nestie Labels Four for the card base.  The card front became very heavy, so the back of the card was reinforced using 

two cardstock nesties and one thin chipboard nestie.  

Lot's of glitter, a big jingle bell

and a white feather boa strip completed the project.

The inside was finished with a triple circle of baja breeze, cherry cobbler (which has become my favourite go-to Christmas red) and a

focal image from the DP.

 You know how sometimes when you finish a design, you really feel good about it? 

.... well, that's how I feel about this card.  It was well worth the

time I invested in it.

IT'S BEEN A WHILE

... since I posted what we have been up to in our Workshop Friday's.

The first card was Cathy's workshop and was titled "When Life Gives You Lemon's"

It's tri-fold card with tons of layers (Cathy is the Layer/Detail Queen!)  We even used our ball-end stylus to round the lemon and the mice to give them even more dimension.  I love the colours that Cathy chose for us and I'm afraid this is one card I will be selfishly keeping for myself!

                          

 

The next Workshop Friday was Kristy's turn and we made these three cards 

with a bird theme.  I always enjoy Kristy's crisp and clean style.

 The most recent project was Carolyn's, where we made an explosion

card with a "tea with friends" theme.  This was a very unique project which 

Carolyn seems to always surprise us with.  Love it!

This was the 3-D tea cup that Carolyn cut out for 

each of us, using her Cricut.  The cup was filled with

tea bags!

And last but certainly not least, was a happy mail card that I received from

my pal Gail (http://scrappintimes-gail.blogspot.com/).  She knows that I am NOT a Halloween girl, so she made this Halloween card in pink!  You should check out

her blog ... she has a crazy sense of humour, is very talented and always has something interesting to post on her blog.  Thanks for thinking of me Gail ... even if it

was about Halloween!!
