MOJO MONDAY

It's not often that I can start a project after I'm finished work and complete it the same day but I guess I did have some Mojo going on this afternoon.  I decided to try my hand at MOJO MONDAY 180 this week.  Here is the sketch:

Here is what I came up with:

This card came together very quickly and I think I might have discovered the secret.  While I was working away, I had background music playing ... Alabama, Josh Groban, Corey Hart, Alan Jackson, Carrie Underwood/Randy Travis, Garth Brooks and Bette Medler.  Not sure if they inspired me or not, but they certainly made for a relaxing afternoon.

Thanks for stopping by.

WORKSHOP WEDNESDAY

It was Carolyn's turn to host our Workshop Wednesday today and I still can't believe the card she designed and we made.  It is called a shadow box card and just look at this beauty ...

Honestly, it was not a difficult card to make but the details that Carolyn designed into it, made it absolutely stunning.

Look at these crocheted flowers ... Carolyn made them herself!  At the end of the workshop, she attempted to show ME how to make them, but needless to say, I have commissioned her to make me more of them.

This girl is so talented.  She's only been stamping and crafting seriously, for a couple of years.  She doesn't have all of the toys and supplies that those of us who have been at this for several years, have and yet she comes up with creations like this one.  We are so grateful for you and your talents, Carolyn and so blessed that you joined our little group.

Thanks for stopping by.

WATER, BLUES and AQUAS

WATER is the challenge at CMC Challenge Group , this week as well as the use of blues and aquas.  I've had this little Whipper Snapper image for quite a while so I figured it was about time to ink it up.  I can hardly wait to see real birds in real birdbaths in my garden, come Spring.

Some glossy accents were added to the water droplets.

WHAT A TREAT

Once in a while, I have the opportunity of getting a visit from a critter other than a dog. Well, this morning I had the pleasure of visiting with LILY, a lop-eared bunny.  Lily comes every couple of months for a "pawdicure" and while she was here, I was able to snap a couple of photos of her.  She is so calm and gentle and soooooo soft ... a special little girl.

I even managed to snap a photo of her in a Christmas hat that I am going to put in a Christmas frame and give to Lily's family.

It's been a fun morning here at the Dawg House!

DAYTONA 500 SUNDAY

Since it's Nascar's season opener, the Daytona 500 today, I have no commitments
other than be serve up the roast beef dinner later.

(UPDATE:  What a finish to the race ... and what a future the kid, Trevor Bayne, has in front of him!)

As much as I enjoy the race, I wanted to spend my afternoon in my crafting studio.  I was playing with my Copics again and made a huge boo-boo when I was almost finished the image.  So, rather than throw it away, I decided to cut the image out and mount it that way.

The bling flourish was made using my new Bejeweller and some Hotfix stones.

Some stickles were added to the tulips and to the Martha Stewart butterfly, as well.

Thanks for stopping.

MONOCHROMATIC CHALLENGE

This week's challenge at Tiddly Inks is "Monochromatic".  I think I might have missed the mark a bit on this one.  No matter what I did, black and white just seemed to have to be a part of the design.  The image is another freebie offered by Tiddly Inks, called "For You".  It's funny ... I consider my style and preference to be monochromatic and yet I had difficulty with this challenge.  Anyway, it was exactly what it says ... a challenge!

I was thrilled to be this week's random winner of a $10.00 gift certificate from Tiddly Inks.  Now I have 3 new digi images to play with for the next few challenges.  Thanks Christy!

PINK TULIPS

Tulips are a sure sign of Spring and that can't happen soon enough.  This card was created to participate in CMC Challenge 11 which was to use a flower or floral image and colour it with Copics.  And since my favourite colour is pink, I naturally used several shades of it to complete the image.

Challenges are a great way to inspire you to get creative and maybe even entice you to step outside of your own comfort zone.

IT'S FINALLY HERE!!

My "Molly & McGee, The World's Most Famous Barn Owls" hard cover table book arrived in my mail box today.  For those of you, who like me, watched for hours as the eggs hatched, the owlets grew and and eventually fledged, you can appreciate my excitement.  This unique experience was made possible by Carlos Royal, who installed a tiny night vision camera inside the owl box and daytime cameras outside of the owl box.  The book contains one hundred of Carlos' favourite photos and is written in chapters beginning with the first day that Carlos heard scratching noises inside the box to the final day, when the owlets fledged and the owl box was empty once again.

Here a couple of photos that I was able to snap online during the course of the Owl Box live feed.

This very unique experience was a very real account of the 'circle of life' and left me with many fond memories.  I am so happy to have this book as a reminder of these memories.
Nature is truly amazing.

DIFFERENT PERSPECTIVES

On a recent blog surf, I came across this hillarious comparison of a dog's and a cat's diary entry.  I found it here on Allison's blog:  http://stampinwhenican.blogspot.com/2011/02/using-mojo-monday-to-scrap-page.html
 (originally written by DAN PIRARO)

I loved it so much that I decided to perserve it in a layout.

The CAT photo is courtesy of GINGER, the fur-child of my friend Cathy.  You can visit her blog here:

And the DOG photo is of course, my schnauzer princess, LILY.

Anyone who has ever shared their life with a dog and/or a cat, will totally relate to these excerpts.

UNCONDITIONAL LOVE

Our oldest girl schnauzer, DITTO, absolutely lives for my husband.  She is restless all day until he gets home from work.  She follows him around the house, everywhere he goes and since she can't jump up anymore, she will sit on floor by his feet, until he realizes that she is not sitting beside him on the sofa.  When he had his heart attacks, Ditto never left his side and she was an integral part of his healing.  They are as close as a puppy and human can get.  So, in honour of Valentine's Day tomorrow, I made this little card for Ditto to give to the love of her life.  She was not terribly impressed about having her paw inked up for her paw print inside the card, but was very happy with being rewarded one of her favourite cookies for her patience.  We refer to my husband as "PETERMAN" when it comes to our puppies.

This is one of my favourite photos of Ditto with her Peterman.

We are so blessed to share our lives with our puppies and I can't imagine life without a puppy in it.

KIKI Digi Dog

There have been many firsts for me in the past couple of weeks.  I finally created a blog;  created a card using a digital image and now I am entering into a challenge.  The challenge is for TIDDLY INKS Challenge #37 LOVE IN THE AIR and can be found here:
http://tiddlyinkschallenge.blogspot.com/2011/02/challenge-37-love-is-in-air.html.

This image is called KIKI and it is one of many freebie digi images that Tiddly Inks offers.

I colored Kiki with copics and then made a cut at the bottom of his beard to set the glittered heart into and then popped it up.  I've used Nesties to cut each circle and the card base circle has been cut with a Grand nestie.  The flower is made from Papertrey Ink's Beautiful Blooms II #1 Die Collection and is held together with a heart brad, topped with a tiny pearl.

WORKSHOP WEDNESDAY

Twice a month, a small group of us girls get together and take turns, hosting a workshop. When it is your turn, you decide on a project and prepare the materials for each girl to complete the project you have chosen to do.  It was Kristy's workshop today and these are the two cards that Kristy designed and we each made.

Kristy is returning to work after a year's maternity leave and this was her last workshop for a while.  We will miss you at our workshops, Kristy.  You have provided lots of laughter and some great projects!

On a final note, I'd like to send a BIG THANKS to CURT from http://curtsplayhouse.blogspot.com/ for his mention of my new blog on his Wednesday Evening Post last week.  I have been visited by many of Curt's blogging friends and been left some very sweet comments.

Thanks for stopping by.

MORE PRACTICING

I had another ME day today and didn't know what to do, so I decided to plug away at another Copic project.  This little girl image is called Faith and she is from Sugar Nellie.  I have discovered that the smaller the image, the more difficult it is to colour and that deep pink and red are difficult colours to work with.

RODENTS

For the most part, I do not find anything cute about rodents ... mice, voles, moles and the like.  If you have ever had mice in your home, you will know what I am talking about.  Since recently moving into our new home and being assured by our builder, that there is no way for a mouse to take up residence inside our home (I SOOO hope I don't live to regret that statement!), I have come to be a little more tolerant of these critters.

It would appear however, that we do have these little residents, living under our back deck.  These are photos taken this morning, of their little tracks.  Now, as long as they don't chew their way through the concrete foundation or the bricks and mortar of our home, I have decided to allow them to reside under the deck.

I do however, accept no responsibility if my schnauzers decide to stalk them!

These House Mouse images were done a while back (I thought that by coloring mice on paper and making them look "cute", that maybe I wouldn't mind them being in our home)
and I used colored pencils and Gamsol.  If only the real ones were that cute!

BUSY, BUSY, BUSY!

Fiskateers has been hosting an online crop for the past three days and I've trying to participate as much as possible.  Here are a few of the cards that I have completed for the crop.

I love this image.  Reminds me of a scruffy schnauzer!
I used my Gypsy and Expression to cut these ginormous ants.

This is the first time I have inked up this set (I've only had it for a couple of years).

The use of Flower Soft on the flower portions of this image, gives lots of dimension and interest.

I love the sentiment on this card and have used it on many other cards ... it's very poignant.

This layout was cased and I'm embarrassed to say that I can't remember from whom.  The DP is really yummy ... glitter everywhere!

These online crops give me the much needed motivation to complete some projects that I have had on my to-do list, for quite some time.
