ANOTHER SURPRISE!

... and another beautiful PINK card!  Carolyn came by this afternoon with this beautiful card for me as well as this pretty PINK Garden Globe and stand.  

One of her famous crocheted flowers adorned the front of the card and one inside, as well.

The garden globe is a translucent pearlized pink glass and sits inside the

heavy wrought iron stand.  I can't wait to be able to put it out in my garden.

You sure made my day extra special Carolyn ... thank you so much, sweet friend.

OH WHAT A NIGHT!

Michael Flatley's LORD OF THE DANCE is a highly acclaimed show of Celtic dance and music.  My friend Cathy and I went to see a live performance of it in Hamilton last night and I must say that I was rather disappointed.  I had seen this performance a couple of years ago and was blown away by it but last night ... not so much.  The men are supposed to look like men - not BOYS - and should NOT look like they are still in high school and probably not even shaving yet.  And the girls who perform Celtic dance should not be BLEACH BLONDES WITH HAIR EXTENSIONS!  All in all, the director needs to take a better look at this dance troupe and make some much needed changes.  They even seemed to have put a modern twist to this performance and I for one, do not think that classic Celtic music and dance should be tampered with at all.  Sure wish I could see a European troupe perform this classic show, the way it was meant to be done.  BTW, if you like Celtic music and dance, be sure to check this one out on DVD ... but make sure it's the original, starring Michael Flatley.

Having written that review, the night was not a total bust because I got to spend the evening with a good friend and that, as they say, is PRICELESS.

The door bell just rang and what a surprise ... it was my dear friend Cathy, stopping by
to deliver a beautiful birthday card and a special gift of the SU BLISS set.  I had a chance to get this set but decided I didn't want it.  Since then, I have seen dozens of projects using it and wished I HAD ordered it.  So, typical of Cathy, she surprised me with
it and now we have a reason to get together, to create with it (not that we ever need a reason to get together!).

This beautiful card is even more special because she made it in PINK, just for me.  Isn't that glittery butterfly just gorgeous?!  So, thanks so very much, dear Cathy.

MOJO MONDAY 183

Since it is Spring, I chose some bright colours for my Mojo Monday card this week.  Little did I know that we would get 6" of snow, mixed with freezing rain, today!  I think Mother Nature forgot that it's supposed to be Spring everywhere, including Ontario.  Oh well, a couple of days of rain and the grass will be here again and hopefully, for good this time.

BLACK AND WHITE

Fiskateers is running a Winter Stamp Out (WSO) challenge right now .... actually, 20 challenges, to be more specific.  The link can be found here.  This card is for

Challenge #6 - Black & White.

The scalloped frame was made using my Grand Calibur dies and the detailed frame was made from the Spellbinders Pendant "In Spades".  Stampin' Up's 2-step owl and 2-3/8" circle punches were used to make the flower (tutorial here).  Homemade glitter spray was sprayed on the flower to add a bit of sparkle.

SPRING HAS SPRUNG!

Happy Spring everyone!  And a sure sign of Spring is tulips.  While our tulips have not popped through yet, it's only a matter of time.  

Beate posted a photo for inspiration of some beautiful tulips HERE, so I decided to break out one of my favourite tulip stamps. 

 They are coloured with Copics R29, R27, R24, Y38, Y35, Y32, YG97, YG95 and YG93.   I cut the entire image out and popped it up on a background that has been lightly sponged with SU pear pizzazz.

MINI CARDS

Our little group of girls gets together for our Workshop Wednesday's, twice a month.  Since Kristy, one of our crafting pals, returned to work after her maternity leave, she is unable to join us on Wednesday's.  So, we decided to have a Friday craft night, so we could all be together again.  We had a lasagna and garlic bread dinner and then Carolyn surprised me with a birthday cake, which we enjoyed for dessert (it was so yummy!).

We each designed a couple of little 3x3 cards cards and then prepared little kits for each girl to make her own.  We each ended up with 6 mini cards 

and a box to put them in.

My design was the little box.

Going through life with good friends is truly a blessing and I am very blessed to call these girls, my friend's.

GIRLY GIRL ORGANZA FLOWERS

Not only do I love PINK, but deep down inside, I have always been a girly girl.  I have always and still do to this day, love ruffles, things that sparkle, pastel colors, wearing dresses and any kind of jewelry.  When I saw this video on Utube, I immediately went out to get the supplies that I needed to try to make them.  I'm pretty happy with how they turned out.  I've never been one to shy away from something that may not be 'trendy' so whether wearing flowers is "in" or not, I know I am still going to enjoy wearing my flowers.

The aqua and black flower has just been set on a white background so you can see the black.

I attached a simple pin to the back to be able to wear the flower on any piece of clothing.

I did burn myself a couple of times but it was well worth it in order to learn how to create these pretties.  If you decide to try them, make sure you heed the advice of Bethany about keeping the water bowl close by ... I won't go into any details but suffice it to say, I certainly was glad to have taken her advice seriously!

PINK ISN"T JUST A COLOR

Anyone who knows me, knows that I am PINK crazy! 

For my 5th birthday, my Granny made me a new dress from a piece of pink border eyelet.  She had no sewing machine and made it all by hand...even the pattern.  Anyway, she bought me pink socks, new white shoes and a pink hat so that I could wear my new outfit to church (it was not proper back then for a lady or a girl to go to church without a hat).

Ever since then, I have loved the color PINK.  My wardrobe, to this day, contains many things in PINK.  My garden grows many different PINK flowers.  My craft studio is PINK, black and white.  Even my puppy Lily, has a PINK wardrobe, right down to her pink ball cap and pink sunglasses!

So, when I saw this stamp, it had my name written all over it!  This card was created for this week's Mojo Monday 182.  Once again, it went together really quickly ... I am loving Mojo Monday's.

The stamp is made by C.C. Designs and I have used DP from The Glitter Stack by DCWV.

WORKSHOP WEDNESDAY

This workshop was my turn to host and I decided on a JOY-FOLD CARD (Beate's tutorial can be found here.)  One is made vertical and the other, horizontal. 

Stampin'Up "Green Tea" was the DP used and the rosettes were made using 

MFT's Die-namics 3/8" rosette die (found here).

We had a bit of time left so we did up a few little 3x3 note cards (the idea was came from Dawn's video tutorial here).

These were done with the new 2011 SU in colours.

EASY, PEASY

My stamping buddy and good friend Cathy came over and decided she wanted to make a simple thank you card, so we pulled out an oldie but goodie to make it with.  These cards were made in less than half an hour but stack up well against other 'make it in minutes' cards.  We used Enamel ARTZ powders in navy and pale pink.  The images were stamped with Versamark ink ... the navy on silver matte c/s and the pink on glossy white c/s.  The corresponding colours of powders were applied and heated.  The images were then double matted and adhered to the card base, which has been embossed with a frame border.

A LITTLE PICK-ME-UP

My Mother-in-law has been feeling a little down the past few days so I thought I'd make her a card using her favourite colour, PURPLE.  I found this really nice rose tutorial using the S/U owl punch and thought I'd give it a try and use it on Mom's card.  You can find the tutorial here.  Turns out, the flower is quite easy to do and really looks nice when completed.  I added some purple glitter to the flower centre and sprayed the flower with some homemade glimmer spray.

Now I'm off to deliver the card and take Mom out for a coffee.  Hope you enjoy your Sunday.

LAZY SATURDAY AFTERNOON

With any luck, all of this rain that we are having will melt away the dirty snow that's left.  It's the kind of day that you laze around in your PJ's and maybe get inspired to craft.  And that's exactly what I have been doing.  Even my little Lily is having a lazy day, chillaxing under my desk.

  

This is my first card that I have made using my Cricut.  It's a gatefold card and I used Three Bugs in a Rug DP, Stampin'Up cardstock and 3 Birds on Parade Cricut cartridge.  Boy, I can tell you that these types of cards sure work up faster than traditional stamped cards.  I really enjoyed creating it and will definitely make more projects using my Cricut but it will NEVER replace my stamps and the traditional card style made with stamped images and various techniques.

CAUGHT IN THE ACT!

Once in a while, something comes through my email that I just have to share.  This is one of those things ...

"No, I have NOT seen your lipstick!
Why would you even ask me that?
I'm insulted!  Every time something goes
missing around here, everybody

Now, is this not a scrap page waiting to happen????  Not sure how successful this puppy's human was at removing this mess but chances are, the puppy is still sporting a pale pink face and feet!
